Next, head through the Middle Atlas mountain range to Marrakesh, known for its colorful Djemaa el Fna, a square bustling with acrobats, storytellers, dancers, singers, and food stalls. This fantastic trip covers three countries—Spain, Morocco, and Portugal—concentrating on the southern part of the Iberian Peninsula. On this tour, you’ll see many of the area’s historic sights, including the Alcazar in Seville, founded in the 11th century as a Moorish fortress, and the Alhambra Complex in Granada. The Alhambra was a palace, citadel, and fortress for the Nasrid sultans and their servants, elite soldiers, and high officials from the 13th to 14th centuries.

The Kingdom of Morocco, so close to Europe in distance but so different in all other ways. Our tour brings you face to face with the country's diverse cultures of Berber, Jewish, Arabic, Roman and European in amongst the sights of the souqs (markets), the scenery of the mountains and the serenity of the desert. Always accompanied by the Moroccans' well-known friendliness and hospitality. We visit the former coastal fortresses of Asilah, Rabat and Essaouira, the magical crossroads of Africa that is Marrakech, former camel caravan trading centre on the edge of the Sahara, the historically significant cities of Meknes and Fes and the mountain recluse-turned-hippie magnet of Chefchaouen. Plenty of photographs, plenty of shopping, plenty of free time to explore, plenty of memories....all of this awaits you on our Magical Morocco tour.

Verdant valleys in the heart of the High Atlas Mountains, long empty beaches under the sun, bustling spice and oriental markets are what this adventure is all about. We'll have the chance to see the Jamna el Fna square in the exotic city of Marrakesh, where snake charmers and storytellers compete for space with jugglers. We explore the maze of souks or markets where almost anything can be found. For a complete change of scenery, we head up into the High Atlas Mountains, over winding passes more than 3000 metres high, to the valley of Ait Bougamez. Berber farmers plough the fields between almond and apple orchards and women gather grass and herbs for the cows to eat. It is possible to visit a Berber family for the day, take a mule trek to see the famous dinosaur tracks, or cool down after the heat with a gorge walk. Across the dusty plain from Marrakesh is the seaside town of Essaouira. We relax here for two days with opportunities to take a camel ride along the beach, or try surfing on the Atlantic waves. For a change from the beach, why not visit the city and explore the thyul wood souks.

Sunbaked mud built kasbahs, oases of palm trees, camels, the ever changing colours of the sand dunes as the sun sets, revealing blazing stars and constellations in the night sky are all to be found on this adventure holiday. Starting in the exotic city of Marrakesh, we get our first taste of the orient at the Jamna el Fna square, including snake charmers and smoking open air tagine stalls. Close by are the souks or markets where you can find anything from carpets to Moroccan drums for sale. Heading over the high passes of the Atlas Mountains, the landscape changes to the rocky plains that are the beginning of the desert. Here we will visit the world heritage kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, and Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood” of Morocco. Passing the lush date palms and Kasbahs in the Draa Valley, we catch our first real glimpse of the Sahara desert with sand as far as the eye can see. We meet up with our camel team and head out into the dunes for an overnight camel safari, an adventure in itself. It's possible to hear the shifting sand in the heat and observe the Scarab beetles running up the dunes.
