This week long fly in fly out safari covers two of the best reserves to be found in Kenya. Amboseli National Reserve is located at the foot of Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, and is home to the nomadic Masai people. All around Amboseli you will see occupied and abandoned engangs - Masai villages quickly built and later abandoned when the grazing is finished and the herds moved on. Mount Kilimajaro, with its snow-capped peak, forms a majestic backdrop to the spectacular wildlife found in the reserve. Porini Camp is set up in the exclusive wildlife conservancy of Ol Kinyei. Next stop Kicheche Mara Camp, located on the Aitong Plains in the northern Koiyaki Lemek region of the famous Masai Mara. The camp is hidden in a grove of wild olive and croton trees in a prime wildlife area. Game viewing starts right from the camp itself.

The great highlight of this trip is visiting the Masai Mara, home to the greatest concentration and diversity of wildlife in Kenya. Explore central Kenya and the Great Rift Valley and enjoy a night on the shores of Lake Naivasha. Visit Elsamere, home to the late Joy and George Adamson, and learn the history of wildlife conservation, much of which began in Kenya. Our final highlight is Lake Nakuru National Park, home to up to 4 million flamingos. An awe inspiring sea of pink can be seen at most times of year. A fly in fly out safari covering two of Tanzania’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites – the Serengeti National Park, and the Ngorongoro Crater. Within the Ngorongoro Crater lives a huge population of game, including black rhinoceros, hippopotamus, lions, wildebeest, zebra, eland and Thomson’s gazelles. On the crater rim are leopards, elephant, giraffe and buffalo. The Serengeti ecosystem is one of the oldest on earth, and the Masai people have grazed their cattle on the vast grassy plains for centuries. But it is perhaps the annual migration for which the Serengeti is most famous, when over a million wildebeest and thousands of zebras head south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains, and then move west and north after the long rains.
